CARE’s Learning Tour to Peru was an opportunity to see firsthand the strategies behind a successful maternal health program. At the heart of this trip was the rural town of Ayacucho where maternal mortality was reduced by 50 percent between 2000 and 2005, twice the reduction seen in a comparison region.
