Relief Efforts in Tanzania

CARE’s work in Tanzania includes women’s empowerment, smallholder agriculture, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation. In rural areas, most people rely on natural resources for their living. We help communities use the land effectively and produce nutritious food while also conserving the environment.

We also focus on empowering rural women and girls. We help girls access quality basic education and our village savings and loan programs empower women, improve access to economic resources and boost livelihoods.

CARE began working in Tanzania in 1994, in response to the influx of refugees fleeing the Rwandan genocide.
