CARE praised the Biden Administration’s decision to raise the refugee admissions cap to 125,000 in fiscal year 2022.

“CARE applauds the Biden Administration’s decision to raise the refugee admissions cap to 125,000 in fiscal year 2022. These actions will help restore American credibility and set the United States on a constructive path toward global responsibility sharing and leadership in addressing forced displacement. The new administration must also take meaningful steps to reverse policies intended to halt immigration, asylum, and resettlement. Supporting displaced communities also extends beyond the borders of the US, and CARE urges the Biden Administration to complement this effort by providing meaningful, relevant, and effective diplomatic engagement and financial support for hosting countries and countries of origin to address the root causes of displacement, support populations on the move and those enduring displacement, and enable conditions for sustainable recovery.”
