The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) published a story by Mahmoud Shabeeb, CARE’s emergency communications manager (originally posted on care.org). The story details 16-year-old Syrian refugee Marwa and her family’s transition from a normal middle-class family to being displaced from war. As a refugee, Marwa had to leave behind school to find a job where she was not treated fairly. Now Marwa’s family is part of a program that provides $100 of aid for schooling, and Marwa was able to complete three years of schooling and dreams of becoming a lawyer or aeronautical engineer.
