CARE, Atlanta, October 10, 2023 – What continues to unfold in Israel and Palestine is devastating for millions of families. I share in their grief and shock at what is happening, and their fear for what comes next. Hostage taking, murdering civilians, and reports of gender-based violence are wanton violations of international humanitarian law. I was deeply inspired by our West Bank/Gaza Country Director and her invocation today to CARE staff for peace, justice, dignity, and her reminder that hope is the last thing to be lost: “We have never witnessed such a devastating impact on families and communities on both sides … Keep us in your prayers. Pray for the peace in the world and for all the human souls.”
