ENSURE Gender Analysis

This 70 page analysis from July 2014 displays the gender dynamics in Zimbabwe as they relate to Food and Nutrition Security. The Gender Analysis research conducted by the ENSURE project provides a strong evidence base for Government and key stakeholders to implement targeted community based interventions aimed at addressing gender disparities that fuel food and nutrition insecurity in Zimbabwe. Although women constitute 61.7 percent of the rural population and 53 percent of the agricultural workforce, they do not have equitable access to key productive assets including land, capital, finance, water and equipment.

Combining world-class documentary films and local engagement campaigns, Women and Girls Lead Global (WGLG) advances gender equality and women’s empowerment by engaging with communities through media. Guidance for GBV Monitoring and Mitigation in Non-GBV Sectoral Programming

This document aims to address the increasing demand for clear guidance on how to practically and ethically monitor and mitigate gender-based violence (GBV) within non-emergency, international development programming, in which GBV is not a specific programmatic component. Specifically, it draws on existing GBV-related guidance, as well as input from a group of experts, to provide recommendations for preventing and/or responding to unintentional risk, threat, or violence against individuals related to programmatic interventions. These recommendations describe ways to take stock of the programmatic environment with regard to GBV in general, as well as targeted suggestions on how to track GBV-related incidents and issues throughout the program cycle.

Challenging Gender-based Violence Worldwide: CARE’s Program Evidence

This report reviews CARE’s work to tackle gender-based violence (GBV) based on program evaluations carried from July 2011-June 2013. Some of CARE’s most successful programs were in sub-Saharan Africa, where staff worked in countries like Burundi and Uganda to address violence at home, to engage men and boys as champions of change and to mobilize community action against GBV. In fiscal year 2013, our programs tackling this abuse reached more than 1.1 million people.
