Hurricane Ian Response: CARE Partners with Feeding Tampa Bay to meet the critical needs of affected communities

(December 13 ,2022) Today CARE announces its partnership with the Florida based organization Feeding Tampa Bay to help assist families affected by Hurricane Ian. As a leader in emergency response, Feeding Tampa Bay has always been equipped to provide essential foods to families impacted by crisis and natural disaster.

“CARE’s partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay has been key to successful emergency cash distribution in the wake of Hurricane Ian. Through their community network we have been able to rapidly distribute emergency cash assistance to families who were hit by not one but two hurricanes in a two-week period.” said CARE US Executive Director of US Programs, Amir Farokhi.

CARE and Feeding Tampa Bay began working together in October 2022 to respond to Hurricane Ian. To date, the partnership has supported over 400 individuals with direct cash assistance totaling over $170,000.

“Hurricanes, like any natural disaster, are unpredictable. It’s difficult for any family to prepare for the shock and burden of an emergency. We know that hurricanes can have long term implications for families for months after the storm. Cash assistance provides families the stability to navigate a traumatic time.” Farokhi said.
