Siobh’an Foran, a CARE emergencies coordinator in Bangladesh, was quoted in a Cosmopolitan story about the traumatic childbirth of Sayeda Begum, a Myanmar refugee who was forced to flee her home to a Bangladesh refugee camp after she says her baby was killed by Myanmar doctors.
Foran discussed the poor conditions many refugees suffer, such as malnutrition, psychological trauma, sexual violence and unsanitary living conditions. “This is really the perfect storm – the ingredients are all there (…) I think it is all building up to make a bad situation worse for women and girls.”
