Atlanta, Ga. (November 7, 2023) – CARE News & Stories, a humanitarian media platform known for its unique blend of human-centered, visually-engaging storytelling, has been honored with the 2023 Eppy Award for Best Magazine Website by Editor & Publisher.
Established in 2019, CARE News & Stories has rapidly set itself apart as a premier digital platform, delivering not just news about the humanitarian organization, but narratives that underscore the essence of CARE’s global mission to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice, with a particular focus on women and girls.
The Eppy Awards celebrate excellence in digital publishing across numerous categories, and the judges recognized CARE News & Stories’ efforts to create vibrant, engaging stories that encapsulate essential information and motivate public support for humanitarian causes.
“At CARE, we know that stories help save lives,” said Travis Nichols, CARE USA’s Director of Content Strategy. “Receiving this award is a welcome acknowledgment of our global network of content creators who work tirelessly to deliver compelling stories that not only inform but also stir readers to take action.”
The CARE stories Editor & Publisher recognized this year included:
“Lebanon today: seeking a path through years of loss” by Mary Kate Wilson, which recounts the rebuilding efforts three years after 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded at the Port of Beirut.
“Syria: The things they went back for” by Hillol Sobhan and Sulafah Al-Shami, which tells the story of the catastrophic February 6 earthquakes in Syria through the everyday objects the survivors rescued from the devastation.
“Six months after being buried alive” by Sarah Easter, in which Elcin, a mother who lost her children and mother in the disaster, recalls her days being buried alive in the rubble.
As CARE News & Stories continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact, this recognition by the Eppy Awards will serve as both a milestone and a motivating force to continue pushing the boundaries of digital journalism in support of a greater good.
