Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE USA opened the evening noting that “global crises are mounting, and if you have read about an emergency or conflict, CARE is likely working there with over 12,000 staff who are so often the heartbeat of the community.”
This year’s Impact Awards recognized extraordinary individuals dedicated to the pursuit of bold ideas and the determination of the human spirit. Each honoree was recognized for their philanthropy, activism, and groundbreaking work to further CARE’s mission around the globe.
2023 CARE Impact Awards Honorees:

In his remarks, Andrew Young stated “I was taught that blessings corrode if you hold onto them. You have to pass them on, and I enjoy doing that…If we survive in this hellish world, it’s going to be because each of us has found a way to do what CARE has done and give more than we can afford.”
- Radhika Jones, Editor in Chief, Vanity Fair
CARE Impact Award for Visionary Leadership
Ms. Jones was introduced by Founder of Brother Vellies and the Fifteen Percent Pledge, Aurora James, who said of her friend, “Radhika Jones is more than an editor. She is a visionary who understands that a magazine like Vanity Fair does not just report on culture; it has the power to ignite conversations, to challenge the status quo, and to open our eyes to new perspectives. We honor Radhika Jones today for her leadership that has indelibly marked the cultural landscape.”
Accepting her honor, Radhika Jones said “CARE does the work that we try to inspire people to do. CARE is making connections and making people’s lives better. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the challenges in the world and believe the stories that we tell don’t matter, but the thing that helps keep us going is we can help make those connections, we can do things bigger than ourselves.”
- James Quincey, Chairman and CEO, The Coca-Cola Company and Bea Perez, Senior Vice President & Chief Communications, Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships Officer, The Coca‑Cola Company and Chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation
CARE Impact Award for Corporate Leadership
In her remarks, Bea Perez stated “Coca-Cola began working with CARE more than 30 years ago. Building on our partnership, I am happy to announce that The Coca-Cola Foundation has awarded a grant of $300,000 to CARE’s Humanitarian Surge Fund. This fund allows CARE response teams to save lives by intervening early in the critical first days of an emergency. It can sometimes be hard to see the light with the daily news reports about tragedy, conflict, and global natural disasters. Thanks to CARE and all of you in the room tonight, we have hope.”
MathWorks was the Global Presenting Partner and Delta Air Lines was the Global Leadership Partner, joined by Jay and Vanessa Halik and Chang Park. Cargill and UPS are CARE’s Global Ambassadors.
