CARE Applauds Biden Administration's Decision to Raise Refugee Admissions Cap

CARE is pleased to see the Biden Administration reconsider its position and raise the refugee admissions cap to 62,500 this fiscal year from the historic low levels in place under the Trump Administration. It’s a critical action to ensure displaced communities are able to take the next step on their journey to safety. Yet for every person now able to access one of these spots, tens of thousands still need support.

Global forced displacement and humanitarian needs have reached staggering levels with 235M people in need of assistance and protection and 80M displaced. It’s essential that the Administration swiftly follow through on its commitment to expand the refugee cap to 125,000 next fiscal year. Lives and futures are in the balance.
