Relief efforts in Cameroon

CARE has been active in Cameroon since 1978, focusing on improving the lives of women in development and humanitarian settings. Our work centers on reproductive health (including HIV), economic and financial inclusion for women and girls, food security, and inclusive governance. We strategically partner with local organizations to strengthen their capacities and increase our impact.

Between 2016 and 2021, CARE projects reached nearly 850,000 people across Cameroon. Through our 2023–2028 strategy, we will support at least 1 million more, addressing the root causes of inequality by promoting social change, strengthening communities, and supporting accountable local leadership. We also prioritize innovative and sustainable solutions for creating resilient futures and promoting peace.

CARE Cameroon works through six offices: our main office in Yaoundé (Center), regional bases in Maroua (Far North) and Batouri (East), and sub-offices in Yaoundé (supporting the Global Fund project), Douala (Littoral), and Garoua (North). We deliver programs directly and through partnerships in every region of the country.
