We partner with civil society and labour movement allies to strengthen the movement for change and engage in shared advocacy. Our country teams work closely with advocacy partners in supplier countries while Made by Women also engages in broader influencing at regional and global level. We also work alongside government departments to strengthen public policies and programs to protect the rights of women workers.

Better Work
Better Work is a partnership between the ILO and the International Finance Corporation and assists enterprises to improve practices based on core ILO labor standards and national labor law. Made by Women and Better Work have a global partnership aiming to promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the garment industry through collaborative programming and influencing.
Business Fights Poverty
Business Fights Poverty brings together people who are passionate about tackling specific societal issues. CARE joined a number of partners for a nine-month Business Fights Poverty GBV Challenge, contributing reports and research to their GBV Toolkit for Action to help businesses understand how they can tackle gender-based violence in the world of work.

Empower@Work Collaborative (EWC)
The Empower@Work Collaborative is a group comprised of BSR’s HERproject, CARE International, Gap Inc.’s P.A.C.E. project and Better Work. CARE works with the Collaborative to explore how to work together to advance female workers, embed women’s economic empowerment in business practice and catalyze policy and systems change.

Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)
CARE is an NGO member of the Ethical Trading Initiative, an alliance of companies, trade unions, and NGOs that promotes respect for workers’ rights around the world. We support efforts to improve the performance of companies on respecting the rights of workers in their supply chains.
Fashion Revolution
Fashion Revolution is a global movement aiming to raise awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues. Made by Women and Fashion Revolution share the common goal of a more fair, safe and transparent industry. CARE sits on the consultative committee for the Fashion Transparency Index.

International Trade Union Confederation – Asia Pacific (ITUC-AP)
ITUC-AP is the voice of working people in the Asia Pacific. Made by Women and ITUC-AP share the common goal of improved labor rights for workers in the Asia Pacific region. Supporting the labour movement is crucial for achieving change in the garment industry so we partner with national trade unions, many of which are ITUC-AP affiliates, to strengthen the representation of women in the movement and advocate for change together.
Partners in industry
Garment buyers and manufacturers have the power to create change in the lives of women working in their factories and supply chains. That’s why we choose to work with employers and companies to support them to make improvements.
We have already worked with more than 270 factories in the supply chains of 15 global garment brands to promote dignified work for women, plus we work with many more on topics such as health and nutrition. This means we understand how to engage with companies in ways that positively benefit both their workers and their business.
Factories
Our engagement with individual factories focuses on strengthening policies and systems to improve working conditions in line with national labour law and global standards. We also have long-standing relationships with industry associations across Asia and work to build their buy-in and commitment to taking action on key issues.
Brands and retailers
Our research and on-the-ground insights are helping global companies understand the challenges faced by women in their supply chains. We work closely with brand partners at global level to advise on the most effective ways to make positive changes. Within their supply chains, we work with companies to support ethical practices which will have benefits for their women workers and their business.
