WASHINGTON—Without the release of already agreed-upon funds for the continuation of humanitarian programs for civilians in Gaza, CARE is only days away from being forced to shut down its programs. David Ray, CARE USA VP of Policy and Advocacy released the following statement:
“As violence flares in Gaza, it’s urgent to note that CARE is only days away from being forced to shutter its US-funded healthcare programs that serve tens of thousands of vulnerable women and children in Gaza. The Administration is withholding these already agreed-upon funds, which is deeply worrying because humanitarian programs should never be used for political leverage.”
