ATLANTA, Georgia, June 12, 2024 – CARE is proud to announce it will work together with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and seven other leading global humanitarian organizations to combat child malnutrition and enhance maternal health worldwide. This collaboration will leverage $55 million in funding to support proven health programs to reach 12 million children aged five and younger and 2.7 million expectant and new mothers. Key initiatives will focus on improving access to nutritious food, strengthening health systems, and providing mental health care for mothers across twelve countries, including Nepal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Bangladesh.
“With this generous donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, CARE will scale up our work in Nepal to fight food insecurity and malnutrition, helping to make life, and the future, better for thousands of children and their families,” said Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE. “This investment will make a life-changing difference for the communities we serve.”
With a commitment to creating lasting change, CARE and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will work to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy. A progress update on this critical work will be shared in spring 2025.
