During the holiday season, CARE partnered with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the Light the World initiative to create a lasting impact on those in need. The campaign launched in Times Square on November 27 with a captivating billboard takeover and the unveiling of the Giving Machines. Caroline Blayney, Executive Director of Philanthropy at CARE, was present to help kick off the event.
Spanning the month of December, the campaign provided individuals and families in select cities with a convenient and accessible way to donate to both local and global charities. The strategically placed Giving Machines offered participants a range of charitable gifts, including life-changing initiatives and essential items for individuals facing hardship.
CARE was honored to be featured among renowned global charities, such as the American Red Cross and UNICEF. Within the Giving Machines, CARE offered eight different items that addressed critical needs, including economic empowerment, food security, education, and humanitarian assistance. For $25, donors could empower families in places like Benin to establish poultry businesses for sustainable income. Another option provided crucial aid for refugees during times of crisis.
Over $930,000 was donated to CARE programs through the Light the World campaign. CARE extends sincere gratitude to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their partnership and unwavering dedication to improving lives. Together, we are committed to creating a brighter future for all and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
