Ana Maria has 20+ years of experience in humanitarian work and international development with a strong focus on gender, human rights, combatting social injustice and poverty. She has extensive experience in management, development, and execution of complex programmatic portfolios across several countries in Central America.
Ana Maria is currently the sub-Regional Director for Central America with Oxfam. Her previous roles included Country Director in Guatemala with Oxfam and IBIS Denmark. She also worked with the UNDP, DANIDA and the Center for Justice and International Law.
She holds a master’s degree in Social Psychology and Political Violence, University of San Carlos of Guatemala, with a certificate in Diplomacy in High Management for Development Programmes, and a bachelor’s degree in law with a specialization in International Law from Universidad Autónoma de Centro America and University of Costa Rica.
Ana Maria is deeply motivated to contribute her experience to CARE’s localization agenda and strengthening local partnerships.
