The Thomson Reuters Foundation: Building back better: One month after Cyclone Idai made landfall

The Thomson Reuters Foundation published a blog by Step Haiselden, CARE International’s global emergency shelter team leader, responding to Cyclone Idai in Beira, Mozambique. “There is concern the high concentration of people in small shelters and lack of clean water and functioning latrines will increase the likelihood of a disease outbreak, which over 4,000 cases of cholera has already been reported,” Haiselden wrote. CARE has responded effectively by providing clean water, food, hygiene items, and rebuilding and/or repairing buildings to be more resilient. Read it here.
