NPR’s Morning Edition featured an interview with Bushra Aldukhainah, a CARE Yemen regional manager, about conditions in Yemen in the midst of a years-long civil war. Bushra explained the challenges of trying to live in the war-torn country, hoping to realize her dreams while not knowing what the future holds for her family.

When asked about sending her son to school, Bushra said, “This was one of the most challenging and biggest decisions to make because airstrikes were everywhere, [there was] no safe place around. To make them also comfortable like, no, we have to live with a hope, we have to continue with our lives. If we are dead, we are dead, but we have to live our lives as long as we are still alive.”
