Since 2003, CARE has implemented the Patsy Collins Trust Fund Initiative (PCTFI) to improve access to and quality of education for marginalized girls across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. In 2015, CARE expanded PCTFI to a third cohort of countries reaching marginalized adolescents, particularly girls, (aged 10-19) in seven countries: Cambodia, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and India. The Rupantaran project builds on a decade of work with landless and smallholder farmers in rural Nepal to increase resilience and improve their livelihoods. Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) were added to the Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) model as a key way to challenge social norms around women’s participation and decision making, explore opportunities and promote economic empowerment.
