Learning Tours

Five women stand and post for a photo together.

We believe when leaders meet the women and families behind the statistics, they will be inspired and motivated to lead change.

About CARE’s Learning Tours

Since 2009, CARE has led an innovative program called the Learning Tours. The goal is to take policymakers, government leaders and change-makers on short, intensive trips where they meet the people whose lives are being transformed through U.S. investments.

CARE knows that the best way to understand the power and potential of the United States to eradicate poverty is to witness it with your own eyes. With that in mind, our Learning Tours are carefully mapped out to take delegates to the villages and communities where development programs are saving lives and empowering women and girls to create lasting change.

"Having the opportunity to speak to beneficiaries was the highlight for me. Each stop was comprehensive and we got a lot of time there."

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.)

We believe when leaders meet the women and families behind the statistics, they will be inspired and motivated to lead change.

We travel off the beaten path to speak directly with community members, visit local health facilities and local farms and view U.S. foreign assistance in action. We talk with local leaders to see how progress is being lead from the ground up.

Tour-by-tour, delegate-by-delegate we put names and faces behind the statistics and stories because that’s how personal, sustainable and effective change happens. CARE knows that when leaders witness the best U.S. foreign investments have to offer, up close and in person, they go home inspired, motivated and challenged to make change happen back in the U.S.
