Returning To Normalcy After A Harsh Year
It’s been almost one year since I was last in Tacloban on the Philippines island of Leyte. A few days after typhoon Haiyan – one of the strongest storms ever recorded – made landfall, I arrived in the utterly destroyed town.
CARE Is There
CARE is on the ground - now and for the long run - in remote, typhoon-affected areas of the Philippines providing food, shelter, livelihood assistance and other essentials to survivors of the storm.
The deep appreciation expressed by the people who have lived through one of the strongest storms in history has touched our team in the Philippines deeply. The storm survivors are extremely thankful for the support they have received. They say so repeatedly to anyone associated with our relief efforts, and thank you they clearly want passed on to all involved in CARE's work.
And so, to you, our donors and supporters: Salamat!
How CARE works in emergencies
RESPONDING TODAY, PREPARING FOR TOMORROW
CARE helps communities plan for emergencies; provides lifesaving assistance when disaster strikes; and remains on the ground to support families and communities during the long road to recovery.
EMERGENCY: CARE IS THERE
In emergencies, CARE is among the first to arrive and the last to leave, helping people survive and rebuild their lives and communities in the aftermath of disaster, conflict and crisis.
